B&A – attic guest room

And now for my favorite room in the house, the attic guest room! The attic spans the length of the house and is split down the middle by a half wall. This layout provides the perfect set-up for a farm office on the north half (the first thing you see when you walk up the stairs) and a cozy guest room on the south half. Between the snug A-framed ceiling, the old multi-colored hardwood floor, the bright windows, and the slightly pinky peach paint color (which I matched to patch), the little girl in me immediately fell in love on our first visit to the house. I was the most excited to make over this room.

Once I found the antique bed frame (at the Brass Armadillo) and the adorable hand-painted dresser (at my parents’ house – thanks Mom!), I knew I’d found the basis for a cute and comfy getaway. And after adding a few details (most of which I already had), we successfully hosted our first guests.
