road trip: cannon beached

My one birthday wish, since we were already so far west, was to go to the beach.  I’m an ocean girl.  I don’t require sand, but seeing and hearing the waves rush onto the shore is the most peaceful experience I can imagine.  When I lived in Guam, I used to drive to Puntan Dos Amantes just to watch the water crash into the rocks below.

Cannon Beach was gorgeous, as you might expect.  We rented a hotel room that opened to a deck overlooking the surf and left the door open to sleep in time with the ocean’s rhythm.  We wandered through the seaside town and ate fish tacos and crab melts at the fish market.  Splurged on a dinner of clams and salmon and sole.  Took a stroll down the length of beach and watched the sun set on the endless expanse of sea.
