1948 – Hamlet

Definitely not my favorite.  Steve was able to enjoy it more because he remembered the story of Hamlet from studying in school.  The problem is that if you are not familiar with the play itself, you might have a hard time following the movie.  The depiction lacked creativity.  The sets were boring, and the special ghost effects provided little excitement.  And those involved did little to encourage understanding of the original play through this form of production.

On top of all this, I can’t say that I’m a fan of the story itself.  It’s creepy.  And I don’t generally like creepy movies.

If you’re a die-hard Shakespeare fan, you should probably see this just so you can say you did.  Then again, you’ve probably already seen it.  The rest of us can leave this one on the shelf.
